Ashland is a city in Saunders County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln, Nebraska Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,252 at the 2010 census.
The city was founded in 1857 by a group of settlers from Ashland, Ohio. Houses were constructed, and roads were cut through the middle of town, connecting Ashland to other neighboring towns. The town continued to grow with the addition of a post office, banks, churches, schools, and businesses, among other amenities. In 1978, Ashland was designated as a Trail Town because of its close proximity to the historic Mormon Trail.
