Wahoo is a city located in Saunders County, in the state of Nebraska. The city is located approximately 30 miles west of Omaha and has a population of around 3,500 people. The city was founded in 1872 and is the county seat of Saunders County. Wahoo is well known for celebrating the traditional Czech culture, and is home to the Wahoo Czech Festival which takes place every year during the first full weekend of October. Other local attractions include the Saunders County Historical Museum, two golf courses, and the Czechoslovak National Cemetery. Wahoo is served by two locations on the Union Pacific Railroad, and was once the site of a Ford Motor Company truck plant. Wahoo is also known for being the birthplace of Johnny Carson, a famous American television host and comedian.
