New Palestine is a community in southwest Lincoln County, Nebraska. It lies 17 miles southwest of North Platte. The origin of the name is disputed. The village was platted in 1881 by the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad. It was named for either a semi-mythica “New Palestine” from where the first settlers came, a group of emigrants from Palestine, Texas in 1872, or a city of that same name in Indiana.
