Roselawn, Nebraska is a small rural village in Platte County with an estimated population of 110 in 2019. Located in the north central area of the state, Roselawn is a settlement that was first established in 1873 by German immigrants who were sent by the Union Pacific Railroad Company to promote settlement in the region. The town was originally known as Zinn, named for the local preacher who founded it, but was renamed Roselawn in the early 20th century. The town is most famous for being the home of Maurice “Mo” Letz, one of the most successful basketball coaching figures in both Nebraska High School and college basketball history. Letz led Central Community College to the 1968 NJCAA National Championship and chaired the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association from 1969-1993. Today, Roselawn is a small farming community, relying on its agricultural production as the main economic activity and source of income. The village is served by only a few stores and a post office. The local school, Central Valley Schools, is the largest employer in the area, serving a population of around 500 students.
