Country Squire Lakes is a city located in Dodge County, Nebraska, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population of the city was 468. The city was originally known as Oakland Center, but later changed its name to Country Squire Lakes in 1955. Country Squire Lakes is home to a number of boats and docks thanks to its location on the Elkhorn River. The city hosts a variety of outdoor recreational activities, including camping, fishing and boating. The city is also home to the annual Country Squire Lakes Festival, which is held the second Saturday in August. The festival features music, a parade and a variety of family-friendly activities. Country Squire Lakes had its beginnings as part of the Omaha Indian Reservation which was established in 1854. In the late 1880s, the area became part of the Pleasant Valley Settlement, which also included the town of Pleasant Valley. In the early 1900s, two local churches, the Congregational and Methodist, formed the Oakland Center Sunday School. This Sunday School eventually became Country Squire Lakes. The name was derived from the first sedan, which was called the Country Squire. The town's incorporation was finalized in 1955. Today, the city is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, liquor store, restaurant, barber shop, several service centers and a variety of other small businesses. Country Squire Lakes is also home to four churches – Methodist, Congregational, Lutheran and Emmanuel – as well as the Oakland Center Cemetery and Oakland Center Art Gallery. Country Squire Lakes is served by the West Point-Beemer Public School District, with students attending K-12.
