B1 Visa Purpose
You can use a B1 visa for the following purposes:
What is business related (B-1) visitor visa travel?
Generally, the travel appropriate for a business (B-1) visitor visa includes;
- Consultation with business associates
- Attend a scientific, educational, professional or business convention, or a conference on specific dates
- Settle an estate
- Negotiate a contract
- Participate in short-term training

then you need a dedicated employment visa. In your case, you will be performing work that is paid by your employer in Canada. So, in principle, you are eligible to enter the US on a B1 visa. If in doubt, contact your local US embassy for precise information.
