Albertville is a small city located in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. Named for Civil War General Edward Porter Alexander, the city is referred to as the “Home of the Ham” due to its recognized barbecue and pork sandwich. The population was 21,160 at the 2010 census.

Albertville was founded in 1870, and incorporated in 1891. Agriculture was the primary industry in the area until 1941 when the United States government purchased the surrounding fields for a munitions plant during World War II. The plant was shuttered in 1945 and sold to the Intimate Apparel Company which manufactured and distributed clothing. In 1956, the Albertville Hosiery Company opened and has been the primary engine of economic development for the city. The city has become increasingly attractive as a bedroom community for residents commuting to work in nearby Georgia or to Huntsville.

The city is served by the Albertville City School System with three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school—Albertville High School.
