Satsuma is a city in Mobile County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 5,687.

Satsuma was incorporated in 1921 as Alabama’s 285th city. The city was named for the citrus fruit which has grown in the area since the 19th century, when growers from states along the eastern seaboard successfully had the trees transplanted into the area.

The city today is a bedroom community for the nearby city of Mobile yet is still noted for growing Satsuma, the state’s official fruit, since a number of local growers maintain orchards and sell their fruit on the side of the road during the season. The city is also home to an Easter festival which takes place in the spring, where the city has a large egg dying and painting competition, petting zoo, parade, and other activities.
