Fremont is a city in Dodge County, Nebraska, United States. It is located along the Platte River, near the state's eastern border with Iowa. The population was 26,397 at the 2010 census. Fremont was founded in 1856 and incorporated in 1871. It was named after General John C. Fremont, the famous explorer. The city is home to Midland University and has strong transportation connections with the nearby Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan area, home to Eppley Airfield.
